The Samar State University – Advocacy on Gender and Women Advancement for National Development (SAGWAN) conducted a benchmarking visit on October 9, 2025, at the ÿÈÕ´óÈüÍøÖ·Ê×Ò³½øÈë (CvSU) – Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) to gain insights into the university’s gender mainstreaming efforts.

The SSU delegation, headed by Ms. Charmaine R. Quiña, MAN, Director of SAGWAN, together with other university representatives, was warmly welcomed by Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rundina-Dela Cruz, Director of the CvSU GADRC. In her welcome remarks, Dr. Dela Cruz highlighted the value of fostering partnerships, sharing best practices, and cultivating a culture of continuous learning among institutions to advance gender-responsive initiatives.

The program featured a presentation on CvSU’s exemplary gender mainstreaming practices delivered by Ms. Ellaine E. Todoc, GADRC Staff. The SSU team also toured several vital university offices, including the University Library, Planning Management Office, and Procurement Office, to observe the practical application of gender and development principles in institutional operations.

Through this activity, the SSU delegation learned from CvSU’s best practices in gender mainstreaming, policy formulation, and program implementation. This undertaking also aimed to foster meaningful partnerships and collaborative dialogues on promoting gender responsiveness in education; and to apply these key learnings to the enhancement of SSU’s GAD Plan and its integration into the university’s overall strategic planning.

The benchmarking visit served as a platform for institutional learning and collaboration, reinforcing both universities’ commitment to advancing gender-responsive programs and fostering inclusive development. (by Janeal Krayjn Rebutazo)
